PROJECT OUTLINE
What are we proposing ?
A new regional wastewater collection system and treatment facility to service the R.M. of West St. Paul and the southern portion of the R.M. of St. Andrews.
Why ?
It is believed that there are a large number of failing septic fields within Manitoba Conservation’s designated Red River Corridor that require replacement with holding tanks or connection to a municipal wastewater collection and treatment system. There are also several municipal and private wastewater treatment plants in the R.M. of West St. Paul that no longer provide the treated effluent quality currently required by Manitoba Conservation.
Who is affected ?
All properties within the proposed wastewater service area will be affected by the proposed regional wastewater system.
When ?
Construction of the wastewater treatment facility and the first phase of the collection system is expected to begin in 2012. The remainder of the collection system will be phased in over a 5-year period.
How much will this project cost ?
The current estimate for the wastewater treatment facility is $15M and the connecting wastewater collection systems in West St. Paul and St. Andrews are estimated to cost $25M and $33M, respectively.
Who will pay for the project ?
The Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments are financial contributors to this project.
