Message From The Mayor

Whether you are already a resident of our community or in the process of considering a move to “Wonderful West St. Paul”, I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
As Mayor, I encourage you to visit our community, attend a monthly Council meeting or take the time to speak with our staff or members of Council on matters you feel are important.

We are a vibrant, progressive community that promotes family values and Council is committed to providing professional and transparent leadership.

We, as a community are very proud that we can showcase West St. Paul’s many amenities. A newly opened Daycare, new Public Works building, a fully staffed 24/7 Paramedic station along with a K to 8 school, many fully equipped neighborhood parks, curling club, places of worship, the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club and St. Benedicts Retreat which hosts visitors from all over the world.

These are all important prerequisites when making an investment in a home or business.

The Municipality has recently completed numerous projects including “The Sunova Centre”. This multi-purpose recreational building has exceeded our expectations. It is complete with a nursery school, gymnasium, meeting rooms, an outdoor hockey rink along with soccer fields and baseball pitches.

Many would argue these fields are some of the best kept in the capital region, which keeps our facility continually booked.

Currently, construction has begun on a new Fire Hall and the West St. Paul regional wastewater collection system is scheduled to start this year. The wastewater system will be the largest capital project ever undertaken in our community and will ensure the community is well positioned for future growth.

This will allow us to be a strong economically based community that offers sustainable growth as well as protect our aquifer and the environment of “Wonderful West St. Paul”.

We take our responsibilities as your representatives very seriously. As we continue to grow as a community we want to ensure that our identity and heritage is protected.

As you travel West St. Paul you will see land being developed and new neighborhoods under construction. Land within the municipality is being re-designated for growth in both the residential and business sectors. These new projects will provide jobs, an economic tax base and convenient shopping opportunities.

Our Municipality has been recognized with the second highest rate of growth in the Capital region. We have worked hard as your elected officials to develop a strong network of contacts within the neighboring municipalities, the City of Winnipeg, the Province of Manitoba and the Government of Canada.

West St. Paul is truly a great place to live, work and play.
As Mayor, I am proud and committed to providing professional, respectful leadership for our community.

Please take the time to attend the Council meetings or community events. I look forward to meeting each and every one of our residents as we move forward and grow individually and as a community.

Bruce J. Henley
Mayor
