Canada Day Celebrations set for July 1

Sunova Centre is home base for West St. Paul activities

Everyone from West St. Paul and surrounding areas are invited to join us to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary at West St. Paul's Sunova Centre on July 1st 2017!

A full schedule of events starting at 9 a.m. and ending off with fireworks at around 10:45 p.m. is available HERE.

There will be helicopter rides, a firebreather show, exotic animal displays, children's events on site and so much more! A special ceremony at 3:00 p.m. will feature speeches from dignitaries and a cake cutting.

Volunteers Welcome!

Volunteers are welcome to join us in planting a tree or two! This year on Canada Day there is an opportunity for families and people of all ages to participate in a special tree planting event commencing at 10:30 a.m. The RM of West St. Paul was approved for a Grant from Tree Canada partnered with the Government of Canada for a celebratory tree planting event which covers the planting of 150 trees to be planted on Canada Day at the Sunova Centre!

CN has also generously sponsored a custom plaque to be placed by the trees as part of the event. The West St. Paul Public Works Department will have pre-dug the holes in advance for an easier plant.

As recognition to the efforts of these volunteers they will have an opportunity to paint their names on a large stone that we have at the Sunova which will sit alongside the trees for years to come!

Please consider bringing a chair or a blanket, and wear comfortable walking shoes, as parking is limited. No recreational vehicles will be allowed on site. Pets are not allowed.

Sunova Centre is located at 48 Holland Drive, West St. Paul MB. There will be special instructions for those leaving the Sunova Centre after the fireworks. Use Kapelus Drive to reach northbound Highway 8 or southbound Highway 9 only. No access to the Perimeter Highway will be allowed.

The event is organized by the R.M. of West St. Paul, West St. Paul Fire Department and the Canada Day Committee.

Thank you to all sponsors of the annual Canada Day Event! It is through the donations and sponsorship from people and businesses of the community that allows our annual Canada Day event to continue to grow and thrive within this wonderful community.
